Yesterday I watched a 4 minute 58 second live video segment by one of my former pastors who now leads a church in Pekin, Illinois. It was short. It was powerful. It spoke volumes to me. "I am a keeper of the fire".
Reflecting on it I remembered the book of Acts when the Holy Spirit was first poured out on those prayerfully waiting for the promise of the coming Helper...the Spirit of Truth. Always been my prayer: Lord lead me into Truth! That fire burns within me. I must keep it a healthy, vibrant flame.
One of my favourite parts of scripture is the disciples on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24, how Jesus walked and talked with them along the way. In verse 32 after they realized that it was Jesus, they said "Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road". Even so, Lord, let Your word be a fire that burns ever brighter within me, a fire so bright and hot that it cannot be contained. I am a keeper of the Fire.
love! I agree! We need to be vigilant to be those keepers of the fire. In today's world, it's so much easier to become distracted and to forget! Without that fire, we have nothing!
