Lie: God could never use me.
Truth: God can and will use me to accomplish His purposes for my life.
Scripture: John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last”
I’m not smart like her. I can’t pray like supersister over there. I don’t look good enough. I’m too this – or too that. I’m too young. I’m too old. I can’t speak well like brother so-and-so. I’m too shy. I’m too poor. I don’t have the right clothes. I don’t have enough education. I’m just a nobody.
Do you remember the donkey? Yes, the one that God spoke to the prophet through. I think we’re a little higher up on the food chain than a donkey, don’t you? Now if God can use a donkey, I’m pretty sure he can use you and me.
Our focus needs to change. We have to take our eyes off of ourselves and put them where they must remain – on Christ. If you want to compare yourself with someone, compare yourself with Him. One of the great tragedies of life is that we compare ourselves with each other, think of ourselves as ‘less than’ and believe the lie that God could never use us. Have you believed that lie?
What would it be like if each one of us just simply placed our lives in God’s hands and believed what He says about us – not what we think others say, not what we say about ourselves! Our adequacy is in Christ, so let’s look to Him. 2 Corinthians 3:5 says “Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God”.
What does this mean? It means that God can and will use you and me to touch others when we seek Him and rest in Him. Don’t be preoccupied with what you can and cannot do – be preoccupied with knowing Christ – you’ll be surprised at how God will use you to accomplish His purposes. Remember it’s all about Him.
...so thankful that God found me and is using me to touch others in little ways...(I am a prayer companion)and I am always amazed on how HE helps me helping others...
