Back to the garden...

Lie:  The devil made me do it…
Truth:  The devil can’t make me do anything.
Scripture:  1 John 4:4 “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

So you messed up big time. Who me? Yes you. What have you got to say for yourself?

Oh A-d-a-m, where are you?
Uh… I’m here… in the bushes.
Is Eve there with you?
Uh… yeah…
Come on out, let’s talk. There you are… hey, what’s with the fig leaves? What have you done?
Well…uh, it all started when that woman you gave me made me eat the fruit from the do-not-eat tree.
Eve, what’s up? What did you do?
Well…uh, the devil made me do it?
Meanwhile the serpent is back at the do-not-eat tree with a big grin on his face saying, uh-uh you can’t blame me.

Yes folks, that’s right, it all began in the garden. Mankind has been blaming the devil or someone else since the very beginning – not surprising that the same thing happens now.

The devil kept on tempting me and I couldn’t resist, you say.  Well, the truth is that through the power of the Holy Spirit you can resist temptation, so you can’t use that excuse. James 4:7 says “Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.” Oh, so probably the best thing to do would be to confess my sin and ask God to forgive me. Yes, that’s right. He will forgive you and help you to overcome temptation. 1 John 4:4 “The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”  Okay, thank you for telling me the truth; I know what to do now.
