Lie: It’s my life; I can do what I want.
Truth: My life now belongs to God
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:20 “You were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body.”
Honour God with your body – only five little words right? I mean how difficult can it be? Think about it a minute. Oh… wait a minute, it encompasses my whole life, my every moment and every aspect of my existence – it’s too overwhelming to think about!
Okay, so down to basics, something more manageable then. Honouring God with my body; my five senses: hearing, seeing, taste, touch and smell. What am I listening to? What am I watching? What do I put before my eyes? What about my eating habits? What am I seeking? What environment do I put myself in? How do I spend my time? Hmmmmm… it’s not so simple these five words.
I’m asking myself, is there anything I need to change in order to honour God more fully with my body? I was bought at a great price and my life does belong to God. So bottom line, it’s not all about me. It’s not about it being my life and me doing whatever I want. It’s about honouring God in all my private and public moments. Upon reflection YES, there are things I need to change. I’m very thankful that He is there to help me make those changes. There is never any condemnation in His gaze. He will honour my commitment to honour Him. The bonus is I will enjoy my life more fully when I do.
How about you? Are there changes you need the Holy Spirit to help you make in order to honour God more fully?
Your words..."It’s about honouring God in all my private and public moments. Upon reflection YES, there are things I need to change."
